Danny Balkwill is an accomplished singer, writer and actor who has been performing since the age of 13 and is a graduate of one of Canada’s leading music schools, Campbell Collegiate.  While studying at Campbell he toured with their top vocal jazz group throughout the US and overseas, including performances in Seoul, South Korea, Montreaux, Switzerland, Germany, France and England.  Being a Regina, Saskatchewan native, Danny performed with the provincial musical revue touring company Saskatchewan Express.  He later went on to play bass and vocal coach for “The Express.”


Danny’s musical theatre days were just beginning when he accepted the lead role of Danny Zuko in Grease, followed shortly by the national company of Spirit of a Nation, and finally a role in the North American premiere cast of Mamma Mia!, along with Mamma Mia! ’s Pre-Broadway US tour. His vocal ability was showcased when he was voted into the TOP 30 of the CTV premiere of Canadian Idol


Danny’s love for the arts has taken him many exciting directions, including writing plays and dinner theatre shows, musical directing various productions in Vancouver and Toronto, performing in numerous bands, working in film and TV, music engineering, performing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and playing leading roles in many Canadian theatre productions.  The long list includes Footloose, Godspell, CATS, Songs for a New World, and Seussical the Musical, to name a few.


Danny now resides in Vancouver with his wife Katie, after starring in Queen’s hit musical We Will Rock You in Toronto. During his career he has become a self-taught multi-instrumentalist on drums, keyboards, bass and trombone.  Danny records and performs original material, written often with his musical collaborator Craig Salkeld, and recently recorded his full length album, Dorsey Park.
